The Indiana Township Republican Committee was awarded the Ronald Reagan Award and vice-chairman Louis Neubert was honored with the Spirit of Lincoln Award at the annual Lincoln Day Dinner. The Reagan Award is given to the highest performing chapter in the county and the Lincoln Award recognizes lifetime achievement. Both of the awards are given by the Republican Committee of Allegheny County (RCAC).
“I was honored to accept the Reagan Award on behalf of our committee,” said Mark Bursic, Chairman of the Indiana Committee. “And I can’t think of a member more deserving of the Lincoln Award than Louis. He is the heart and soul of our committee.”
“Louis Neubert has been involved with Republican politics since he was 19,” said Bursic. “And that is saying a lot for a guy who just turned 81 in January.” Neubert has worked for every major campaign since Gerald Ford and is still active. He recently circulated petitions for Governor candidate Tom Corbett and regularly attends both local and county GOP meetings.
“Louis has been there for us from the beginning, and he’s a big reason we were able to win the Reagan Award,” said Bursic. The Reagan award is based on a list of criteria that range from simple things like having regular meetings to more complicated tasks like building a website and recruiting members.
The Indiana Committee, who call themselves the ITGOP run various projects to help Republican candidates get elected. The committee is comprised of 10 elected members, two from each district in the Township. They also have several dozen associate members that are appointed by the chairman. The committee meets every first Tuesday at the Indiana Town Hall and runs special projects throughout the year. More information can be found on their website at ITGOP.com.
